Dog and Cat First Aid & CPR will be held Saturday, May 7th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hart County Community Action Office at 509 A. A. Whitman Lane in Munfordville. The course is free, however American Red Cross charges $19 to issue the First Aid and CPR card. Samson Street Church of God in Glasgow will have a benefit for the Levi family who lost their home and belongings in a fire. The benefit will be Saturday, May 7th, from 3 to 7 p.m. Plate dinners will be served for a $6 donation. The Hart County Chamber is hosting a large indoor yard sale Saturday, May 7th, to raise funds for preschool children to participate in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Two workshops for Artisans are being offered in the month of May. The Hart County Chamber of Commerce and Hart County Cooperative Extension Service will host the workshops on May 11th and 25th. Both workshops are titled "Growing your Business" and will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Extension Office in Munfordville. The session on May 11th will explore marketing practices, packaging and branding and booth design, while May 25th's workshop will focus on record keeping strategies and other business basics as well as E-commerce. "The Ingathering" concerning marriage between one man and one woman, will be held at Immanuel Ministry Church Friday, May 13th, at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 14th, at 10:00 a.m. Bro. Tom Gilson will minister Friday night on Critical Conversations, a book written to prepare adults to talk to their children about alternate lifestyles, and Saturday's morning meeting is for children. Kevin Williams, guitarist and humorist with the Bill Gaither Homecoming tv series, will be in concert Saturday, May 14th, at the First Baptist Church in Russell Springs, at 6:00 p.m. Also appearing will be Gene McDonald and Charlotte Ritchie. A love offering will be taken to benefit needy children in Russell County.

Seven Springs Church will have a Community Praise Service on Saturday, May 14th, at 6:00 p.m. Bro. Ray Woody will be there along with special singing by Randy Richardson.

Friends of Mammoth Cave is hosting the 5th Annual Pedal for the Park at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, May 14th. The event will begin at the Cave City Convention Center and features three different bike routes, plus a free bike rodeo. On-site registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. for $30.

A KMA/KBA Poker Ride for the Glasgow VFW will be held Saturday, May 14th. Sign up will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with kickstands up at 11:30. The cost is $10 per bike and $5 for an extra rider. The ride starts and ends at the VFW. There will be a fish fry after the ride.

Free health screenings will be given at the Caverna Community Health Fair on Saturday, May 14th, from 8:00 a.m. to noon located behind the Medical Center at Caverna.  Screenings will include: blood pressure, body fat analysis, stroke screening, lipid profile blood test, blood sugar screening and depression screening. Fasting is required for some of the test, so for best results, nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours prior to the screening. The 17th Annual Kentucky Southern Gospel Music Singing Convention will be held June 24th at 5:00 p.m. and June 25th at 3:00 p.m. at the Cave City Convention Center. There is no admission charge and everyone is welcome.

The 7th Annual Big Buffalo Crossing BBQ Cook-Off in Munfordville is scheduled for October 13 - 15th.  Last year, 32 teams competed from several states and the event has been sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. Teams will be competing for $15,000 in prize money. The teams will cook all night Friday for the judging on Saturday.  Food and merchandise will be available with several vendors. From the Abundance of the Hart Food pantry will be open every 3rd Thursday and Friday of the month at the Munfordville Baptist Church.  You must meet the income eligibility guidelines and only receive commodities one time per month.
