Branstetter Park Bluegrass Festival in Summer Shade will be held Saturday, August 27th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Admission is free. All pickers and singers are invited, bring your lawn chairs. There will be concessions and lots of musical entertainment, games for the kids such as: Diaper Derby stick horse race, water balloon throw and pony rides, along with horseshoe, checkers and cornhole tournaments. The 90th Annual Homecoming will be Sunday, August 28th, at 10:00 a.m. with singing in the afternoon by New Direction, at Branstetter Park in Metcalfe County, located 1/4 mile south of the Hwy 90 and Hwy 163 intersection and 1 mile east of Summer Shade. Beulahland Baptist Camp's "Fun Day" will be Saturday, August 27th, starting at 2:00 p.m. There will be a bouncy house, games for the children, live music, BBQ, cake walk and booths of all kinds. The 1st Annual Ride for Courageous Kids by the Master Builders Chapter of the Widow's Sons Masonic MRA will be held Saturday, August 27th, at 9:00 a.m. with kickstands up at 11:00 a.m. from Glasgow to Scottsville. The ride begins at VFW, 2970 N. Jackson Hwy, Glasgow and ends at the Courageous Kids Center at 2970 Burnley Road, Scottsville. South Central RTCís Nominating Committee met Thursday August 18, 2016 at its Headquarters Office in Glasgow with the following candidates being nominated for the office of Trustee in three districts.

Nominated in District II (consisting of Horse Cave & Canmer Exchanges) was Charles L. Stinson, Incumbent Trustee and Billy Smith.

Nominated in District V (consisting of Glasgow & Temple Hill Exchanges) was Stanley C. Greer, Incumbent Trustee; Jeff C. McGuire and Jackie L. Perkins.

Nominated in District VI (consisting of Lucas, Fountain Run & Gamaliel Exchanges) was Zack Kender, Incumbent Trustee.

SCRTCís Annual Meeting will be held on October 6th at the Cave City Convention Center where reports will be given by Coop Officials.

 

 

 

September 2nd, 2016

 

The Hart County High School (HCHS) Football Alumni Club Board of Directors invite all former players, coaches and team managers to attend the 5th Annual Hall of Fame Game. Join us on September 2nd,2016 at 6:30PM (Central Time) as the team hosts their first home game of the season against Todd County High School. There will be a cookout prior to and during the first half of the game for all former players, coaches, and team managers leading to the induction of the2016 Hall of Fame Class during the half time ceremony.  All attendees will have the opportunity to socialize with teammates while supporting the football program. The goal of the HCHS Football Alumni Club Hall of Fame program is to further accentuate the outstanding athletic achievements and contributions of the schoolís many gifted and dedicated football players, coaches and supporters.

It is the further objective of the Alumni Club to aid in the consistent growth of the HCHS Football Program.

 

 

September 3rd, 2016

Glasgow Faith Church will have a singing Saturday, September 3rd, with the Gospel Sounds starting at 6:00 p.m. The church is located at 3050 Old Bowling Green Road. Bro. Roger Poynter is the pastor.

Labor Day Weekend Singing will be held at Dale Hollow State Resort Park in Burkesville September 3rd and 4th. Host groups include: The Kellys, from Lawrenceburg, TN, and the Spirituals, from Edmonton. September 4th, 2016

The Wilson Family Reunion will be Sunday, September 4th, at 10:00 a.m. for the families of Robert & Pauline Mae Francis Wilson, of Park City. The reunion will be at Bowling Park in Edmonton with lunch served at 12 noon. Plates, cups, spoons, forks, knives, serving utensils, napkins, sweet tea and lemonade will be provided. The Lighthouse Church located on the Old Glasgow Road in Horse Cave, will have their annual homecoming service Sunday, Sept. 4th. The service begins at 10:00 a.m. with the Trinity Gospel Aires singing and a potluck lunch to follow. There will be no Sunday night service.

 

Juanita Combs, the sister of Eli Johnson, will be ministering Tuesday, September 6th, at the Lighthouse Church located on the Old Glasgow Road in Horse Cave. The service will begin at 6:00 p.m.

 

 

September 9th, 2016

 

The 26th Summer's End Art Show will be held at the Allen County Extension Building in Scottsville on September 9th and 10th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free and the exhibit will feature around 175 works of art by artists from south central Kentucky and northern Tennessee and includes Children Art. Revival services will be held at Faith Independent Church Thursday, September 8th, through Sunday, September 11th, at 6:30 p.m. nightly. The evangelist will be Bro. Joe Milby. Metcalfe County Community Education will be offering a Driver's Education course. The course is offered to any area student; in-county $50, out-of-county $100. The class will meet on Mondays, September 19th thru December 12th, from 3 to 6:00 p.m. at Metcalfe County High School. Students must have received their driving permits by October 21st, in order to enroll in the class. All day homecoming will be held Sunday, Sept. 11th, at the Bon Ayr Baptist Church. The group "We're Blessed" will be the guest group.

A community singing, sponsored by Boyd's Creek United Methodist Church and Siloam Baptist Church, will be held Sunday, September 11th, at Morrison Park on Hwy 63 south of Glasgow. The singing begins at 4:00 p.m. and a potluck meal will be served at 5:00 p.m. Featured groups include: The Joymakers, from Greensburg, Joyful Road and Boyd Creek Singers, from Glasgow. Sulphur Springs Baptist Church homecoming will be held Sunday, September 11th, at 11:00 a.m. featuring the Noblemen from Shelbyville. A meal will be served afterward. The church is located at 1323 Beechville Pink Ridge Road, Edmonton.

Homecoming will be held at Cornerstone Church on Sunday, September 11th with singing by the Spirituals. The singing will begin at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow. The church is located off Hwy 163 in Edmonton. The pastor is Bro. Mark Parks.

Horse Cave Heritage Festival will be held downtown on Main Street Friday and Saturday, September 16th & 17th. Booths are available for vendors and non-profits. Events will include continuous music, quilt show, antique tractor, car, truck and bike shows, children's activities, community mural painting, Chattin' on the Porch, chalk art contest and pancake fry. September 24th, 2016

 

A Poker Run will be held for Breast Cancer Awareness on September 24th. First hand will be Open Road USA at 204 North Mulberry Street, Elizabethtown, and last hand will be at Vaughn Reno Starks Community Center. The route will be given the day of the run. October 9th, 2016

All day homecoming services will be held Sunday, October 9th, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. The group "We're Blessed" will sing at 10:30 est followed with preaching and a potluck meal.

 

October 15th, 2016

The Annual Clothes for Kids Fun-Run-Walk "15k" will be held Saturday, October 15th. The walk begins at the traffic light in Munfordville at 8:00 a.m. and will travel to the WLOC Radio Station in Horse Cave. The walk is just over 9 miles. For more information, call 270-774-1485 or 270-505-2646.

1st Annual Run/Walk 5k will be held Saturday, October 22nd, in Munfordville at 7:30 a.m. The walk is hosted by Karen Roten and proceeds will go to River Pointe Church Mission trip to Poland. All participants will receive a free t-shirt. Refueling stations will available throughout the race. Awards will be given. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for youths. The Group "We're Blessed" will sing Sunday, December 4th, at 5:00 p.m. at the Greensburg Separate Baptist Church.
