September 5th, 2015

 

Whickerville Baptist Church is hosting their 2nd annual Yard Sale and Truck Show Saturday, September 5th, starting at 7:00 a.m.  The location is 90 Whickerville Road, Hardyville. A bake sale will also begin at 7:00 a.m.  The car show will begin at 11:00 a.m. and there is no registration fee.  $5 BBQ lunch plates will be served. An Outdoor Benefit Auction, Raffle and Cake Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 5th, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Samson Street Church of God in Glasgow.  Concessions will be available.  A singing will be held at 6:00 p.m. inside the church with Marris Taylor, the Taylor Girls and others.  With all proceeds going toward funeral expenses for Joy Bulle.

Labor Day Weekend Singing will be held at Dale Hollow State Resort Park in Burkesville on Saturday and Sunday, September 5th and 6th. Host groups include: The Kelly's from Lawrenceburg, TN, and The Spirituals, from Edmonton. Glasgow Faith Church will have a singing Saturday, September 6th, at 6:00 p.m. Trinity Gospel Aires will be singing. The church is located at 3050 Old Bowling Green Road. The pastor is Bro. Roger Poynter.

 

The Lighthouse Church located on the Old Glasgow Road in Horse Cave will be having their homecoming service on Sunday, September 6th.  The Gospel Trinity Aires will be singing and David Read will be preaching the message.  The service begins at 10:00 am.  There will be a potluck meal after the service and no evening service.  Pastor: Bro: Bobby Neal.

A community singing sponsored by Boyd's Creek United Methodist Church and Siloam Baptist Church will be held Sunday, September 13th, on the lawn between the two churches on Siloam Road in Glasgow. The singing begins at 4:00 p.m. and a potluck meal will be served at 5:00 p.m.  Featured groups include: Southern Tradition, New Direction and the Boyd Creek Singers. Bring a lawn chair.

 

Sulphur Springs Baptist Church will be hosting a Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, September 13th.  Sunday School will begin at 10:00 am, singing by The Noblemen from Eminence, KY starts at 11:00 am central time.  A meal will be served at a approximately 12:00 noon.  Bro. New Direction from Glasgow will be singing and Joe Milby will be preaching at High Plains United Methodist Church for revival services on Saturday & Sunday, September 19th and 20th.  Saturday's service will be outside beginning with a BBQ meal at 6:00 E. Cave City Dollar Days will be held Saturday, September 19th, at several area attractions from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Locations include: Mammoth Cave Wildlife Museum, Cave Country Go-Carts, Funtown Mountain Haunted Hotel and Kentucky Action Park with activities for just $1 each.

Cave City Proud Days Tractor Show will be held Saturday, September 26th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Trophies will be awarded. Got Drugs?  Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal on September 26th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Walmart Supercenter in Glasgow.  Hosted by the Glasgow Police Department.  Any solid forms of medication will be accepted with no information taken from the individual donating the substance or questions asked.  The medication along with the container will be destroyed in a manner that makes it impossible to re-use.  At this time, liquid medications & "sharp" medical items such as needles or syringes CAN NOT be accepted.  For additional questions contact the Glasgow Police Department at 270-651-5151.

Dog and Cat First Aid & CPR Course will be given Wednesday, September 30th, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hart County Community Action Office at 509 A.A. Whitman Lane, Munfordville. The course is for adults 18 and older or teens with a parent or guardian. The course is Free and taught by Medical Reserve Corps volunteers. New Direction from Glasgow will sing at Glens Fork Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, October 18th at 6:30 p.m. The church is located in Columbia.

The 5th Annual Extreme Fitness Run for Health 5k Run/Walk will be held at Barren River Plaza N L Rogers Wells Blvd, Glasgow on October 26th, at 8:00 a.m.  Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds go to Community Medical Care. New Direction from Glasgow will sing at Joyners Chapel Presbyterian Church on Sunday, November 1st. The singing begins at 6:00 p.m. The church is located off Hwy 677 on Fairview Church-Pascal Road in Hart County.

 

 

"Stockings from the Heart"  Non-profit organization helping children of Hart County.

The Christmas season is the time to start thinking about helping other people.  There are many organizations that provide charity Christmas assistance to individuals and families.  There are many children who live in our community that are less fortunate.  The stress of the season mixed with financial stress can be a lot for anyone to handle.  All money raised will provide a child that traditional red stocking full of exciting toys for little ones on Christmas morning.  Events are planning through out the summer and fall to help raise money for a good cause.  Any donations are greatly appreciated.  For more information about who can qualify and what the credentials are to qualify please contact Ronda Kidd at 270-473-3129, Sheryl Shirley at 270-307-0311 or Deborah Bradley at 270-473-1045.

Friends of Mammoth Cave, a group of concerned citizens and community leaders working with the National Park Service started the organization in order to preserve and protect Mammoth Cave National Park.  At the same time, the Friends Organization hopes to enhance visitors' and family experiences for years to come.  The organization works to fund important projects and initiatives many of which are beyond the financial capacity of the National Park Service.  The Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park receives no annual government funding, relying instead upon the support of private citizens, foundations, and corporations.  The organization is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.  All donations are tax deductible.  For more information, contact Gayle at 1-270-597-7604 or visit www.FriendsofMammothCave.org

 

From the Abundance of the Hart Food pantry will be open every 3rd Thursday and Friday of the month at the Munfordville Baptist Church.  You must meet the income eligibility guidelines and only receive commodities one time per month.

 

Hart of Autism, a support group for parents and educators of children on the autism spectrum will be held every -3rd Monday of every month at Munfordville Baptist Church at 3:15 p.m.  For more information call 774-1180.
