The 2017 Glasgow City Clean Up Week will be held during the week of March 20th and run through March 24th. This is an opportunity for Glasgow City Residents to clean out their garages and around the house. Extra trash, large items and bagged or boxed items can be placed curbside on the same day as the normal garbage pickup. Items will need to be placed out by 7:00 a.m. Items that will not be accepted include: appliances, liquid pesticides, auto batteries and parts, asbestos, tires or construction materials. And remember, appliances are accepted free of charge all year long at the landfill, with the freon being removed by a professional prior to the drop off. Help a girl go to the prom in Hart County. Donations are being accepted for the event which will be held March 20th, with a location to be determined. Items needed include: prom dresses, jewelry, tiaras, dress shoes, monetary donations for prom tickets, etc. Also beauticians are needed who would donate their time to do hair, nails, makeup, etc, for the day of the prom. Cave City Free City Wide Clean Up will be held this week through Saturday, March 25th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. across from the Firehouse, recycle location. Reminder: no tires, paint or hazardous chemicals.


A Spring Gospel Meeting will be hosted by the Center Church of Christ Thursday through Sunday, March 23rd - 25th, at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday with Sunday School at 10:00 a.m. with worship service to follow and a noon fellowship meal, and a 6:30 p.m. evening worship. The guest evangelist will be Ed Sterchi, of Campbellsville.

There will be a Special Screening of “An Uncommon Grace” March 24th & 25th. To celebrate the movie’s success, producer George Shamieh, invites the public to two special screenings: Friday, March 24th, (Horse Cave) and Saturday, March 25th,

(Glasgow).  On March 24th, the movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. at The Way Church (formerly Horse Cave Theatre), located East Main Street in downtown Horse Cave. Prior to the screening, a Meet and Greet Reception will be held there from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. While the movie is free, a donation of $20 is being asked for attendance to the reception. “Proceeds from the reception benefit the Southern Kentucky Film Commission. The reception will include an array of appetizers and desserts, plus an opportunity to mingle with some of the cast, as well as author Serena Miller.

The Horse Cave Public Library is sponsoring Serena Miller’s visit. Miller will have copies of her books available at the reception, which includes music and special photo ops. Plus, your $20 donation reserves you a seat for the movie and qualifies you for a special door prize drawing valued at over $300. The doors will open to the public at 6:15 p.m. for those just wanting to see the movie, and seating is on a first come, first serve basis.

A similar event will be held Saturday, March 25th, at Historic Plaza Theatre E. Main Street in downtown Glasgow. The movie will begin at 4 p.m. with a Meet and Greet Reception.

The Barren County Conservation District Tree Giveaway will be Saturday, April 1st, at 9:00 a.m. until the trees are gone at the Barren County Conservation District Office at 207 YMCA Way, Glasgow, Ky. Red Bud, Oak and White pine trees will be given out.


A benefit singing and auction will be held for 4 year-old Dixie Jewell on Saturday, April 1st, at Hiseville Elementary School, at 5:00 p.m. There will be gospel music, cake walk, games and a live auction. A benefit will be held for Megan Riggs on Saturday, April 1st, at 5:00 p.m. at the Munfordville Fire House. Megan is 12 years-old and the sister of Munfordville City Police Officer Ryan Riggs. She has been diagnosed with DBA. There will be a dinner, cake walk, silent auction and music with the Green River Band the Carter Family. Proceeds will go toward medical expenses. Prophetic Women's Conference "A Season of Victory" will be held Saturday, April 8th, at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Ministry Church on LeGrande Hwy in Horse Cave. A Community Gospel Singing will be held this year on April 22nd at Cecilia Baptist Church and later on at Ormsby Heights Baptist Church in Louisville.



13th annual Drive for a Cure will be held Saturday, April 29th, at 10:00 a.m. with both antique and modern tractors. The drive is sponsored by Alvey's Towing & Recovery, Dennison's Roadside Market, Tri-County Oil, Wigwam General Store, and W & W Antique Tractors. The ride will begin at Bale Warehouse #1 in Horse Cave and there will be a lunch and live auction with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society in memory of Sherry  Waddell and in honor of Jimmy Page.
