Researchers at the Barren River District Health Department are conducting a study that combines quitting smoking classes and lifestyle improvements like physical activity and weight control. This 16 week program will take place at Hart County Health Department, 500 A. A. Whitman Lane, Munfordville, Ky. 42765. You may be eligible to participate in this study if you: are over 18 years of age, a current smoker who wants to quit, have a primary healthcare provider, do not have diabetes, not pregnant or nursing, do not have a history of being hospitalized due to a major psychiatric disorder, do not have a history of anorexia or bulimia nervosa. New Direction from Glasgow will be singing at the "Reaching Youth on Time (RYOT)" benefit fundraiser on Friday, March 14th. The RYOT benefit and singing will be held at the Glasgow First United Methodist Church Life Center located on South Green Street in Glasgow. The singing will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The Annual Spring Clothes for Kids Radio auction is quickly approaching. WLOC is now accepting donations for the auction including: antiques, crafts, tools, kitchen items, small appliances, theme and gift baskets, toys, concrete items, candles, Tupperware, Home Interior, old coins, etc. Items can now be dropped off at the WLOC radio station on 31-W in Horse Cave Monday through Friday during normal business hours. A matching benefit auction and singing for the late Henry Pippin will be held Saturday, March 15th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Hart County Produce at 6880 Cub Run Road in Munfordville. The gospel singing and cake walk will start at 4:00 p.m. with a chili and soup supper at 5:00 . The cost is $5.50 for adults and children 12 and under $3 for the meal. The auction will follow. The Penguin 5k Shuffle Run Walk Waddle to benefit Junior Achievement of South Central Ky will be held Saturday, March 15th, at the Barren River Lake State Resort Park. The Twilight Trail Run will be at 4:00 p.m. Group registration for 6 or more individuals is $30 per person. Late registration is $40. A Tractor Drive, both antique and modern will be held Saturday, April 26th, starting at 10:00 a.m., to benefit Relay for Life in Hart County. The ride will begin in Horse Cave at Bale Warehouse #1 and return back for lunch, provided by Dairy Queen of Munfordville, and a live auction. There is an entry fee of $25 per tractor. The 2014 Hart County Leadership Class will hold an appreciation dinner for Hart County First Responders on Saturday, May 3rd. Friends of Mammoth Cave, a group of concerned citizens and community leaders working with the National Park Service started the organization in order to preserve and protect Mammoth Cave National Park. At the same time, the Friends Organization hopes to enhance visitors' and family experiences for years to come. The organization works to fund important projects and initiatives many of which are beyond the financial capacity of the National Park Service. The Friends of Mammoth Cave National Park receives no annual government funding, relying instead upon the support of private citizens, foundations, and corporations. From the Abundance of the Hart Food pantry will be open every 3rd Thursday of the month at the Munfordville Baptist Church from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Also the food pantry is open on the following Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. You must meet the income eligibility guidelines and only receive commodities one time per month.
